I have teamed up with Garnier Ambre Solaire to participate in the Sunset Relay which takes place on the 21st – 25th of June in Lapland, kicking off in Luleå Northern Sweden before sunrise and Finishing back in Luleå on the evening of the 24th for the sunset at 00.03 hours on the 25th of June, I know what you are thinking, what a beast of a race. To complete this 96hour 1300-km course you would be traveling in multiple modes of transport including Cycling, Swimming, Running, Kayaking, Wind surfing & more, obviously I would take the 1300km with ease (ha-ha) however I will be only be taking part in 1 phase of this 3 phase relay.
So why is this race being held? The Europe Cancer League & Garner Ambre Solaire are working to raise awareness of dangers from the sun and to combat the dangers of UV rays, The race entails 96 hours of sunlight & participants will race to challenge the sun.
Myself & Lydia have been training for some much needed endurance over the past week & will continue to do so here in Mallorca, the Garner UV sport range has been a god send during the beach runs. I intend on Blogging our journey throughout the race so I will make sure to cover my training aspects in the next post for you guys.
