“A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thought, so he loses touch with reality, and lives in a world of illusions” – Alan Watts
I had some friends tell me that they were heading to the beach for a short break as they just simply needed to be by the beach. It’s strange but I completely understand what they meant and this quote explains why. It was to clear their mind of clutter.
There is something about a stroll on the beach, that fresh air, the sand & pebbles beneath your feet. It’s liberating.
I find that it helps to reset your mind. Helps you get back to neutral. I’ve felt refreshed since I went to South Wales and I wouldn’t have expected to given the amount of work I had to get through whilst I was there.
There’s something about the beach and the ocean breeze that silences everything and this is especially key for the mind (I find) as your mind can get clogged with thoughts just like a room with belongings. I think naturally we can hoard thoughts in our mind and become weighed down by them which is why a clear out is very important every now and then.
